As the Furano area is a well known tourist destination for the Japanese people; there are many things to do in the area – both on and off the slopes: snowmobiling, ice fishing, parasailing, horse riding and dog sledding are just some of the activities on offer. There is a number of art galleries, a cheese factory and a winery for food lovers, plus craft and cooking workshops available year round.
Backcountry tours are also available to some of the beautiful peaks around Furano itself. You can take day tours to the nearby areas of Mt. Asahidake and Kamui ski area.
There are a wide variety of Japanese and Western style restaurants and cafes in both the Ski Village and the main township of Furano. A free night shuttle bus gives easy access to the restaurants in the main town area.
Internet cafes are available in the Kitanomine Area and at the Furano Tourist Association Visitor’s Centre.
A new complex has been completed which houses a gymnasium and 25 metre indoor pool. It is located opposite the JR train station and a regular shuttle service from the Kitanomine accommodation village operates in winter.
