Sparrows Report -- Saturday
A cloudy and mostly overcast start to the day here in Niseko with no new to call over the last 24hrs.
Temperature's currently sitting on minus 1 C at base and forecast around neg 8 - 10 C at mid to upper mountain with winds now from the south at 5 ks here in the village and can expect 15 -25 k's S as the day progresses at top.
This new pressure cell is now entering the region as forecast where we can expect some milder air from the south with it as it moves to the NE across Hokkaido and out into the Pacific side.
This movement by later tonight and into Sunday will see the jet stream move back to the colder NW where further decent snow falls are expected from Sunday till around Tuesady at this stage.
Yesterday was a classic spring day here in the hills with a blue canvas to back drop the stunning Hokkaido alps. Some awesome images captured !
Nice and cool up there which kept the groomer snow pack in great shape throughout the 4 mountain resort.
All lifts and gates open offering huge amounts of challenging terrain to get amongst and plenty of very happy guests enjoying the 4 meter base pack, superb spring snow and weather conditions.
All chairs and 3 gondolas across the 4 mountain resort are Expected to operate today..
We'll see what gets going around 830 -9am !
The link for lift operation is posted on this page.
Gate access today for the back country will depend on lift access and overall stability up there ...Keep an eye on the avalanche report . The link is supplied on this page as well.
Hard copies are also posted at the top of various lifts and gate points.
Strong Advice Always to take extra caution beyond the boundaries and please respect and obey the rules set by the patrol. Please NEVER poach rope lines or go through gated areas when they have closed them. Strong advice is to read the avalanche report that is posted on this page.

THE WRAP
Still plenty of guests on the mountain today enjoying the results of some awesome grooming by the cat guys overnight.
Some of the higher lifts were slowed a little today with some gusty conditions coming into play around lunchtime married with some milder temps at village level as a movement from the south influences our region and will so till the system moves NE and spins the system anti-clockwise by later tonight and starts pumping the jet-stream back from the colder NW direction.
This change is set to modify our scene pretty nicely for the coming week with cold sub zero temps back in the program coupled with decent amounts of moisture that should see some good falls of fresh snow here in Niseko till at least Wednesday night at this stage.
There are some tight isobars forecast with this system so from Sunday till Wednesday so we can expect some high winds, Blizzard conditions and hopefully some deeper tasty fresh in the trees and gullies.
Life's good in dem da hills folks ...A little more of winter during spring to dust up some fresh tracks here in Niseko will go down very nicely.
Keep your fat sticks ready, treat the body well and we'll see how the new day is shaping up in the morning. Please ride wisely.
